Amazon Milk Frogs, or more scientifically known as Trachcephalus Resinifictrix, has an Interesting background. This amphibian is found in tropical rain forests in South America, and it's name originates from the white liquid that is released from it's back when feeling threatened. This liquid is poisonous to predators that may cause harm. Although all Amazon Milk Frogs contain this
aspect, it rarely is used when the frogs are captive bred, since there are no predators that could harm them.
These frogs have a large population in Guyana, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru.
The Trachcephalus Resinifictrix and the Amazon Milk Frog aren't the only names this frog has. In the past these frogs have been called Amazon Cave frogs and Gold mission frogs. These names were made because of the black marks on the frog's eyes that look like crucifixes.
Although these amphibians can handle a wide range of humidity levels, they prefer a temperature between 50 and 70 degrees, including ventilation and air movement. They typically shed their skin once a week, and consumes a large amount of food. Female Amazon Milk Frogs can grow up to four inches in length, while male Amazon Milk Frogs usually grow to a maximum of two and an a half inches in length. They have big hands for climbing, large toe pads, and a plump appearance.
